Love vs Lust

WASHEMAY PEEPS!!! I recently browsed around the net and came across an article by Matthew Fitzgerald, Relationship Correspondent at Askmen.com.

In his article he said, “Love and lust are intertwined. Lust is nature’s way of getting opposite sexes together to mate. Without lust, it is doubtful that love between man and a woman have a chance to prosper at all.”

I strongly disagree with that statement. Love and lust maybe related at times but they still have a unique distinction.

For me, Love has many definitions yet in general it implies a concern for the welfare of another person. It is a number of strong emotions and experiences. A strong affection towards another person. Lust on the other hand, is the product of a libidinal urge (wow scientific!). A strong sexual affection between lovers may connote lust for people in love but sexual affection is part of romantic love but lust is incompatible or unrelated to love. Lust also connotes inappropriate behavior like cheating your husband or boyfriend.

But I agree with Mr. Fitzgerald that “Lust is especially dangerous because it causes a man to think with his crotch and throw all reason and logic to the wind. When a man’s in lust he doesn’t care if he and his partner have anything in common. He’s not interested in where she comes from or where she’s going. His brain is only focused on using his key to unlock the door to the secret cave (nice term= secret CAVE hehe). If his partner’s only in lust, she’ll use this against him; but if they’re both falling in love, this sexuality is a bond.”
